Valerie Van Houten Photography

Photography is a HUGE passion of mine—I enjoy creating art and love having people get excited about what I’ve produced.

As a mom of a three-year-old and someone with a design background, I knew I could go beyond the forced smiles and poses that I had seen too often in studio photography. Becoming a mother inspired me to use photography creatively as a way to tell a family’s story and capture all the amazing moments of life as it happens.

As my daughter grew, I became more serious about photography and diligently studied and practiced the art through coursework with the New York Institute of Photography. Next, I built a portfolio by shooting pictures of my friends’ children. Now my dream of becoming a professional photographer has come true!

Photography is such a fun and rewarding profession for me—and I’m proud of the results so far!
